Start with the source

A small amount of water can make a difference.

Mosquitoes around a property may come from backyard containers, temporary freshwater pools or coastal breeding areas. The inspection looks at what can be addressed on your property and where the limits are.

AROUND THE GARDEN

Containers that collect rain

Buckets, toys, pot saucers and folds in tarpaulins can hold water. Check weekly, empty and wipe out removable containers, and store them dry or under cover. A tidy-looking yard can still have small water-holding spots.

AROUND THE BUILDING

Gutters, drainage and tanks

Blocked gutters and poorly draining sumps deserve attention. Check rainwater-tank screens and seals too. Show us any known issues; arrange suitable help for roof-level maintenance rather than climbing up to inspect it yourself.

BEYOND THE FENCE

Nearby breeding areas

Brisbane has mosquitoes associated with saltmarshes and temporary ground pools as well as backyard containers. Treating one property cannot control every surrounding source. Mention nearby wet areas and whether neighbours are noticing the same problem.

Local context: Brisbane City Council mosquito information. Household checks: Queensland Health breeding-site guidance.

Tell us when and where you notice them

Is the problem around a shaded patio, near the back door or throughout the yard? Has it changed after rain? Those details help us plan the assessment. You do not need to identify the mosquito species before getting in touch.

Choosing the approach

Breeding sites and adult mosquitoes need different attention.

The aim is to reduce activity around the areas you use. We explain which measures suit the site, rather than treating every surface or assuming spraying alone will solve it.

REMOVE THE WATER

Reduce breeding opportunities

Where practical, emptying, covering or removing water-holding items comes first. We point out maintenance issues that could keep the problem going, so you know which changes are needed alongside any treatment.

ASSESS THE WATER

Consider larvae where appropriate

If water cannot be removed, a suitable larval treatment may be an option after assessment. Its use depends on the site and the product label. Drinking water, ponds and natural waterways need specific consideration, not a general garden spray.

ASSESS THE SHELTER

Target adult resting areas

Adult mosquitoes can rest in dark, humid shelter, including beneath outdoor furniture. A suitable treatment may target approved resting surfaces. We confirm the proposed areas and any restrictions before application.

Method background: CDC mosquito control at home. Any treatment here must follow Australian product registration and label conditions.

What a mosquito treatment can realistically do

It can help reduce activity in the treated setting. It does not create a sealed barrier around the property or guarantee that you will never be bitten. Keep up the recommended maintenance and personal bite protection after the visit.

Your mosquito control appointment

Know what is being treated, and why

We discuss the problem, assess accessible areas and confirm the proposed work before starting. Tell us which outdoor spaces matter most to you.

Inspect the areas involved

Show us the patio, garden, entry points or work areas where mosquitoes are causing trouble. Mention water features, tanks, drainage concerns and treatments already used. We discuss any areas that are inaccessible or outside the property boundary.

Confirm the treatment and price

The quote sets out the proposed areas and approach. We explain what you need to prepare, what maintenance remains your responsibility and any limits to the service. Extra areas and follow-up visits are discussed before being added.

Check conditions before applying

Product choice and application depend on the site, label directions and weather. Tell us about pets, fish ponds, beehives, edible plants and outdoor food areas. If conditions are unsuitable for the proposed work, we discuss the next arrangement.

Provide the report and aftercare

Your service report records the work and recommendations. We explain when the areas can be used again, what to leave undisturbed and how to report continuing activity. Any warranty or included follow-up is specific to the service you book.

Planning the visit

Before treatment and once we leave

Use the instructions supplied for your booking. The arrangements depend on the areas and products involved, including any drying, ventilation or access requirements.

Before we arrive

  • Make the agreed outdoor areas accessible and tell us about locked gates or difficult access.
  • Point out ponds, aquariums, rainwater tanks, hives, vegetable beds and animal enclosures.
  • Ask how to prepare outdoor toys, pet bowls, laundry and food-contact items.
  • Arrange for people and pets to stay out of the treatment areas as instructed.
  • Tell us about planned gardening, irrigation or pressure cleaning so we can discuss timing.

After the visit

  • Follow the stated re-entry conditions before using the treated areas.
  • Check the report before washing surfaces, watering treated areas or changing the landscaping.
  • Complete the water-management and maintenance recommendations.
  • Keep using suitable bite protection when mosquitoes are active.
  • Note where activity continues and contact us if the response differs from what was discussed.

Rain after treatment?

Let us know when it rained and which areas were affected. The significance depends on the product, timing and conditions. We will review the visit before advising whether further action is needed; rain does not automatically mean a free repeat treatment or a failed service.

Everyday bite prevention

Keep protecting yourself after treatment.

Property treatment is one part of managing mosquitoes. Personal protection still matters.

Cover up and use suitable repellent

Wear loose clothing that covers exposed skin and use an effective repellent according to its label, including age restrictions. Mosquitoes can bite during the day as well as around dawn and dusk.

Keep screens in good repair

Check door and window screens for holes and keep them closed when in use. Mention indoor mosquito activity when booking so we can discuss entry points as well as the outdoor problem.

Use current health information

Ross River and Barmah Forest viruses are the most common mosquito-borne diseases in Queensland. Risk varies by location and conditions. Our treatment is not a guarantee against infection; use Queensland Health’s advice for current prevention and health information.

Outdoor areas at work

Plan around the people using the space.

Tell us about customer seating, staff areas and the times the site is occupied.

Agree on access and preparation

Identify who will arrange access, move outdoor items and keep people away from the agreed areas. We can discuss the appointment around your operating needs; availability and treatment restrictions are confirmed when booking.

Make maintenance easy to follow

Share the recommendations with the person responsible for grounds and drainage. Tell us about planned works or recurring water issues so these can be considered when reviewing the site.

Discuss ongoing service if needed

If mosquitoes keep affecting the same area, ask about a review and an appropriate service plan. We confirm the proposed frequency, scope and price rather than assuming every business needs the same schedule.

A few details about the property help us give you a useful answer.

Ask about your mosquito problem →
How much does mosquito treatment cost?

We quote for the areas, access and treatment needed. Send your suburb, approximate property size and the places where mosquitoes are causing trouble. The general pest starting price is not a confirmed mosquito treatment price.

How long does mosquito treatment last?

There is no single duration that applies to every property. It depends on the product, treated surfaces, conditions and continuing mosquito activity. We explain the expected response and any proposed review for your booking rather than promising a fixed number of mosquito-free weeks.

Will treatment stop every mosquito entering the yard?

No. Mosquitoes can enter from surrounding areas. The aim is to reduce activity where practical, supported by removing breeding opportunities and following the aftercare advice.

Can you treat around pets, fish ponds and beehives?

Tell us about them before booking. They affect the choice of treatment areas, products and precautions. Some locations may need to be excluded. We explain the arrangements rather than describing every outdoor application as harmless to pets or wildlife.

Do you spray the whole garden?

Not automatically. We assess the problem and agree on suitable treatment areas. Water management or other changes may be more appropriate in some places. Treatment around flowering plants, edible crops and water requires particular consideration.

Can mosquitoes breed when there is no pond?

Yes. Small water-holding containers can be enough. The source checks above are a useful starting point; let us know about any places where water remains after rain.

Does Council treatment replace a property service?

Brisbane City Council targets breeding areas such as coastal saltmarshes and temporary ground pools. Backyard containers still need attention. See the Council link below for its program; ask your own council about concerns on public land.

Is a return visit included if mosquitoes come back?

Any warranty, conditions and included follow-up are confirmed in your quote. Contact us with the visit date and details of ongoing activity so we can review it. A free return is not assumed for every new sighting.
